Daisy’s Mommy Returns!

After Daisy the Deer had a refreshing bottle of goat’s milk and a few naps on my dining room rug, I decided to return her to my neighbor’s yard where the yard men had found her.

As soon as I approached the yard, Daisy’s Mommy bounded over the fence, apparently delighted to see her lost baby.

I am happy to report that all is well for Daisy the Deer !!

  1. Yea! Thank you for your reply and for keeping us posted, Deborah. I really admire your kindness and caring for Daisy. You are a wonderful person, and a mommy through and through.

Won’t it be fun to watch Daisy grow? We love watching the fawn, as I said before. This is our sixth season here and each year there have been a set of twins. We wonder about this year.

    • Thank you for your kind words!! It made me so happy to see Daisy’s mother jump over that fence to retrieve her. 🙂
I hope I will recognize Daisy in the future. We have so many deer in our neighborhood. I would love to see her fawns. 🙂

    this is fabulous news!

  3. This is great news! Many people just aren’t aware that mother deer or other animals like rabbits, will leave their young during the day as a way of protecting them. Newborns don’t have a scent that predators can detect, so when the mother deer leaves the fawn and you might think it abandoned, she is actually helping to keep it hidden and protected as her smell and presence would draw attention to it. Best thing to do if you find a baby animal is to watch from a distance for awhile to be sure it really is abandoned and keep dogs leashed or fenced so they don’t attack.

  4. So pleased there was a happy ending to your story
