Give them a chance, you guys. They just want to eat all the bugs and pollinate tequila plants.posted on October 23, 2013 at 1:13am EDT

Because people think bats are terrifying little sharp-toothed bundles of flying hate.
And rabies.
But here’s the thing.
BATS ARE ADORABLE.
Poor, misunderstood bats. See this one?! It’s like a little hamster with wings! Oh my god!
Doesn’t this strangely kind of resemble…
THIS?!?
And not only are they the cutest. Oh, no. Bats are wonderfully useful creatures to have around.
Someday, this guy will be able to eat 600 mosquitoes in an hour. This is a mosquito-killing MACHINE.
Say these people here.
and TEQUILA.
These people say that bats pollinate a bunch of different plants and/or spread their seeds. Seed production of the agave plants used to make tequila drops to 1/3000th of normal without bats to pollinate them.
THEY ARE THE NIGHT.
But also friends.

TOTALLY ADORABLE
I want a pet bat!! 🙂
Viva la bat!
Si!!
I cannot tell you how happy this post makes me. I’m going to post this on Facebook.
I’m so glad!!
My neighbor is absolutely horrified of bats, but I keep trying to explain the benefits of them to her. I’m tempted to send this to her, lol. She wouldn’t be able to read it though; there’s too many pictures.
How can people not think bats are cute??
I don’t know! On rare occasion we’ll get one that flies around between our houses, and if we’re out talking she immediately runs in her house. Its the most ridiculous thing.
I’ve been trying to get my mom to put up a bat house for years. If only to increase my neighbors exposure to them.
I was thinking about posting about bat houses…
I love bats and we have a bat house although with the decline recently we have no takers…but we are seeing a resurgence in the woods across the street and hope they will visit here too.
I’m seeing more bats in my backyard at twilight. Much to be thankful for this year!! 🙂

Very nice! Batcon.org is a non-prof conservation outfit and their page has a lot of useful stuff such as how to get a bat out of your house without hurting the bat.
Never touch a dead or sick bat, though, or you do risk exposing yourself to rabies.
Good advice. 🙂
Too many horror movies to overcome. Re-education is key for so many. The image in our minds that has been programed, keeps so many scared of things they don’t need to be frightened of. I happy with anything that eats mosquitoes and doesn’t use chemicals. Thanks for helping the education process along. If we can increase their population, we can cut down on mosquito driven diseases. I loved all the pictures. Too cute for words.
Great comment!! Thanks!!
I don’t understand how people can be afraid of bats! I mean, look at this little guy from a few months ago!
SOOO Cute!!
